A long term project that I have been working on is a restoration of a 1940's Herreshoff 12 1/2. This boat is a Long Island Sound version, which is defined by it's after deck and wider side decks. She has a marconi rig with a spinnaker. This particular boat was built by the Quincy Adams Yacht Yard as evidenced by the full length mahogany planking. The mahogany planks have lasted quite well over the years but are now tired and were also responsible for the many broken frames. 32 frames need to be replaced in total. To date I have replaced most of the floor timbers, the transom, transom knee, and have bent in 4 new frames. The next phase will include finishing the framing, replacing the stem and replacing the worn out planking. This boat is currently for sale as a restoration project through the Village Boat Shop. Please contact me if you are interested in hiring me to finish this boat to your specifications.
